Lehigh takes first two from Colgate

Lehigh got on the board in the first of game one when Lauren Haney drove Kate Marvel in with a sac fly to right field. The Mountain Hawks added to their lead in the second when Julie Sterrett scored on an RBI single by Lisa Sweeney, putting the home team in front 2-0. Lehigh then broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, scoring all five runs with two outs. Marvel started the rally with a triple and then scored on a single by Heather Hamasaki. Haney recorded another RBI single, and after Wieder reached on an error, Sterrett came up and blasted a home run over the centerfield fence, giving the Mountain Hawks a 6-0 cushion.
In game two, the Mountain Hawks turned to senior Kate Arico in the circle, and she responded with a complete game, three-strikeout performance to pick up her eighth victory of the season. After Colgate jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Lehigh got on the board in the second when Sterrett tripled and later scored on a sac fly by Taryn Hanley. The Mountain Hawks then took the lead in the third when Wieder smacked a homer to centerfield and Sterrett scored on a single by Whitney Schenbeck.
Lehigh and Colgate will finish their four-game series on Monday afternoon at Kaufman Field, with a doubleheader beginning at 2:00.
