Mountain Hawks swept by tough Princeton squad

In game one the Tigers touched up Lehigh starter Emily Ling for three runs in four innings of work. Ling gave way to Stefanie Forlenza who went an inning an a third, giving six up six runs. The game ended with one out in the bottom of the sixth because of the eight run rule. The Mountain Hawks were done in by their own defense committing five errors. Only six of the nine runs were earned. The Brown and White got its only run in the top of the sixth when Taryn Hanley scored on a wild pitch. Lehigh mustered only four hits, including two by Mary Wieder. Ling takes the loss and falls to 11-4 on the season.
The Mountain Hawks hung tough in game two but found heartbreak in the end. Tigers designated player Calli Jo Varner smashed a two run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh, her second home run of the game, to complete the sweep. Lehigh took the lead in the fourth when Whitney Schenbeck singled home Jess Young. Varner tied the game in the fifth with her first blast, and then won it with one out in the seventh. Kate Arico went the distance for Lehigh and was saddled with the loss, dropping her record to 3-2.
