Lehigh drops a pair at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Lehigh dropped a pair of meets on Saturday to West Chester, as the men fell140-97 and the women came up on the short end of a 131-107 score.  Despite the losses, there were several strong performances on the day.

 

In the men’s portion of the day, the 400-yard medley relay team of Tom Gilbert, Jason O’Koren, Grant Flothmeier and Dan Johnson took first place, finishing in a time of 3:33.81, while Jon Kearney took first in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 9:52.81.  In the diving events, Clark Cohen won the one-meter competition, giving the Mountain Hawks nine team points.  Cohen then added the three-meter dive to his list of first place finishes. 

 

On the women’s side, Betsy Balauger won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:43.90, and Jenny Orellana also finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:30.37.  The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Allie Valasek, Jeannette Braun, Alysa Zellner and Kelsey Hunter placed first in a time of 3:50.82.  In the diving portion of the day, Laura Gray took first in the one-meter dive, scoring nine points for the Brown and White, and also took first in the three-meter dive.

 

Lehigh returns to action next Saturday, November 5 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Hamilton, New York to take on Colgate and Navy.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00.
