Annapolis, MD – For the third time in five matches it came down to the final bout of the night, but Jon Trenge scored a tech fall over Andrew Adams to lead No. 5 Lehigh over No. 20 Navy 20-16 Saturday night at Alumni Hall. The win is Lehigh’s seventh straight in dual competition as the Mountain Hawks improve to 12-1 on the season, 3-0 in the EIWA. Navy is 7-3, 1-1.

Lehigh spotted Navy a 9-0 lead but battled back to take six of the final eight bouts on the evening. Matt Ciasulli and Cory Cooperman picked up early victories to get the Brown and White back in the match. After the Mids scored a win at 149, Derek Zinck, Brian LaMay and Travis Frick won decisions to give the Mountain Hawks a 15-13 lead.

Jon Kane put Navy on top with one bout to go as he scored a major decision over Dave Helfrich to put the Mids up by one, before Trenge scored his tech fall at the 3:58 mark to give Lehigh its ninth straight victory over Navy.

The Mountain Hawks will head to Cleveland next weekend for the National Duals hosted by Cleveland State. Action gets underway on Saturday morning. The brackets for the event will be unveiled early next week.
