West Haven, CT – Senior  George Evans continued his magical season as he placed second in the 100-meter dash at the IC4A Championships on Sunday at Yale University.  Evans crossed the finish line in a time of 10.61 seconds which earned the Mountain Hawks eight team points on the afternoon, which propelled the men to a 27th place finish out of 54 schools.  The Lehigh women sent three athletes to the ECAC Championships, also at Yale University, but were unable to score any points over the course of the weekend.

Other male Mountain Hawk finishers over the weekend were the 4x100-meter relay team, which Evans was also on.  The relay team, which consists of Francis Vincent, Lavar Pope, Aaron Lynn and Evans, placed seventh with a time of 41.57 seconds, earning the Brown and White two points towards their total of ten.  Vaclav Malek cleared 6’7 ½” in the high jump, which placed him in eleventh place overall, while Craig Percopo scored 5823 points in the decathlon, placing him in 14th place overall.  Army was the men's overall winner as the Black Knights racked up 50 points, just 1.25 points ahead of second place Rutgers.

On the women’s side, sophomore Lauren Barrett came in 11th place in the javelin with a toss of 41.69-meters, while junior Deanna Willard placed 29th in the 3000-meter steeple-chase with a time of 11:52.93.  Fellow junior Lindsay Hinsch then posted a jump of 17’3” in the long jump, which was good for 18th place.  The University of Pittsburgh ran away with the women's title, as the Panthers scored 92.20 points, almost 30 better than second place Syracuse.

Evans, Barrett and Willard will now all move on to the NCAA Regional Championships in Tallahassee, Florida scheduled to begin on May 28.  Evans will compete in the 200-meters, while Barrett will compete in the javelin and Willard in the steeple-chase.
