Women tie for fourth, men come in sixth

For the Mountain Hawks on the men’s side, senior George Evans had a solid weekend, as he picked up a first place finish in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 21.39 seconds, and he backed that up with a second place finish in the 100-meter dash, as he raced to the finish in a time of 10.71 seconds. Other Mountain Hawks that scored on the men’s side were Rob Hampson in the 10,000-meter run, as he posted a fifth place finish, crossing the finish line in a time of 31:36.40, freshman Sean Swift, with a sixth place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Vaclav Malek, who along with Evans, were the lone medal winners for Lehigh all weekend. Malek took the crown in the decathlon with 6460 points, over 250 more than the next closest competitor. Craig Percopo took fourth in the men’s decathlon with 5909 points.
On the women’s side for Lehigh, Katharine Hessler earned 4271 points in the heptathlon, which was good for second place, and she also added a fourth place finish in the high jump, leaping 1.60 meters. Lauren Edwards and Katie Dukatz placed third and fifth respectively in the high jump, earning Lehigh seven and two points towards the Mountain Hawks total of 56. Deanna Willard earned six points, as she came in third in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Nicole Montegary came in fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.21. Lindsay Hinsch had a pair of fifth place finishes on the day, one in the triple jump and another in the 100-meter dash.
Kim Rhodes joined Hinsch with a sixth place finish in the 100-meter dash as she crossed the finish line in a time of 12.96 and Karen Welby took sixth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.72.
