In the first game, Radford took advantage of four Lehigh errors to hand the Mountain Hawks the defeat. The score was tied at 3 going to the seventh, but Radford was able to push across four runs to put the game out of reach. Heather Hamasaki (1-1) took the loss, her first in a Mountain Hawk uniform.
In the second game, Lehigh rode a stellar pitching performance by freshman Stefanie Forlenza to the 7-1 victory, as she gave up just two hits and one run in seven innings.
“Our defense cost us the first game, no doubt,” said Lehigh head coach Fran Troyan. “Our errors gave them too many chances and Radford took advantage of them. But, it was a great opportunity to see where we are at and what we need to work on. We know we have work to do.”
Lehigh will play one more game at the Dixie Classic on Sunday, with the opponent still to be determined.
