Washington, DC - The Mountain Hawks competed in their first Patriot League dual of 2004 on Saturday, splitting a meet at American University.  The women won their meet 166-112, while the men were defeated 173-119.

For the women, Julie Mitchell and Linda Hendrixson led the way with three victories apiece. Mitchell and Hendrixson teamed up with Linsey Kokal and Becky Hiro to take the 400 medley relay.  Mitchell also won the 100 and 200 back, while Hendrixson took first in the 100 and 200 breast. Mitchell had a season best in the 100 back, and Hendrixson attained a personal best in the 200 breast. Kokal had a second victory in the 50 free as well.

In diving, Laura Gray achieved a personal best on her way to winning the 1m and 3m competitions.

For the men, they took first, second and third in the diving, led by Pat Ryan, David Edelstein, and Kevin Albano.  Other good performances were turned in by Tom Gilbert in the 100 and 200 back and the 100 fly, and Sean Herman in the 200 free.

Head coach John Morrison was pleased with the teams' performances. "We are where we need to be," said Morrison. "The women got a win, and that was expected.  It was a long day. We traveled in the morning, swam all day long, all things considered I thought we did very well."

Lehigh returns to Jacobs pool next Saturday to take on Lasalle.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00.
