Swimmers split with Colgate; women lose to Navy

Annapolis, MD – The Mountain Hawks got their first glimpse of Navy Saturday afternoon, as they competed against Navy and Colgate in their first Patriot League meets of the season. The men were victorious, beating Colgate 127-110(they did not swim against Navy). The women swam well, but fell in both meets, losing 141-100 to Colgate and 148-95 to Navy.
Coach The men’s day was highlighted by a sweep in the 400-IM relay, as all three Lehigh entrants finished ahead of their Colgate counterparts. The Mountain Hawks were led in the event by the relay squad of Thomas Gilbert, Grant Flothmeier, William Green, and Matt Titko, who swam the event in 4:01.84. Other men’s winners included Jason Koch in the 800 free (8:52.78), Chris Caywood in the 200 free (1:59.40) and 400 free (4:15.10), Green in the 50 free (24.37) and 200 fly (2:12.46), Flothmeier in the 200 breast (2:28.82), and Joseph Beagan in the 200 back in a time of 2:12.62. The women had their best performance of the day in the 800 free. Amanda Warrick took first (9:19.37) as Lehigh took the top three spots in the event. Betsy Balaguer and Kristen Blaston took second and third. Heather Ford picked up wins against Colgate in the 200 free (2:10.89) and 400 free (4:35.63), and Dana Berkowitz beat Navy in the 400 IM at 5:12.80. The 400 free relay also notched a win against Colgate, led by the team of Ford, Berkowitz, Sherry Uslander and Linsey Kokal. The Mountain Hawks will continue their season as they travel to Rider next Saturday. The meet is set for a
