Lehigh competes at league championships

Easton, PA – Lehigh competed in the Patriot League Championships on the campus of Lafayette College on Saturday afternoon, and it was identical finishes for both the men’s and women’s teams, as they both finished in fifth place. American was the overall winner for the women with 30 points, and the Mountain Hawks collected 152 on the afternoon. On the men’s side, American also took home the title, as the Eagle men registered 26 points, besting the Lehigh men, who had 123.
Junior Andrea Luebbe was named to the Patriot League First Team, as she crossed the finish line in a time of 21:34, good for eighth place overall. She was joined by sophomore Jenn Breidinger in 39th place and freshmen Jen Schappert (43) and Sarah Seiler (44).
Sophomore Rob Hampson finished the race in a time of 26:02, and for his efforts was named to the Patriot League Second Team as he came in sixteenth place. Juniors Sam Kirk (21) and Mark Swanson (24) were the other top Mountain Hawk finishers on the afternoon.
Lehigh will return to action on next Saturday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Lock Haven, to compete in the NCAA District II Championships, which is set to begin at 11:00.
