Philadelphia, PA – The swimming and diving teams kicked off their season Saturday afternoon, participating in the Drexel Relays against Drexel and William and Mary. The competition was unscored, but the Mountain Hawks managed to finish first in a few of the scheduled events.
For the women, Lehigh dominated most of the freestyle events, taking first in the 200, 500, 800, and 1500-yard distances. They also took first in the 300 Backstroke Relay and the 400 Medley Relay. The men did well too, finishing first in the 300-Yard Breaststroke and the 200 Medley. Coach John Morrison said that overall the team competed very well. “The last two weeks were a great challenge in workouts,” said Morrison. “The team was tired today, but dug down deep to race real hard. Most of all the team reacted very well to being tired and encouraged each other to race. This is what we will need at PLC's.” The Mountain Hawks will be back in action next Saturday as they travel to Ewing, New Jersey to compete against West Chester and the College of New Jersey. The meet gets started at 1:00.
