In 2009 at Temple, Zhang was named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention as she led all players in NCAA Division I with 5.55 kills per set (544 total kills). Zhang was an Atlantic 10 First Team honoree twice in 2008 and 2009 and was a second team winner back in 2007. She finished her Temple career with 1,656 kills to rank third all-time in the history of the program despite having only three seasons with the Owls.
Zhang’s father, Luo Zhang, has been a professional volleyball coach in China for over 30 years. He used to be manager and director of the men’s national team. Zhang had opportunities working with her dad’s professional team. When Zhang came to the United States, she worked three years of summer volleyball camps under Bertucci.
