Gavin Watt will enter his fourth season Lehigh’s assistant coach in 2016. In his three seasons at Lehigh, Watt has helped the Mountain Hawks to a 61-32 record and 36-12 mark in Patriot League play while mentoring seven All-Patriot League picks. Watt helped lead the Mountain Hawks to back-to-back 20-win campaigns for just the second time in program history and a program-record 14 Patriot League wins in 2014.

As assistant coach, Watt deals with practice planning and recruitment, playing a key role in the progress of the team's setters and offense. Watt has coached numerous players to significant awards and recognition. Under his watch, setter Amy Matula '16 was a first team All-Patriot League honoree as junior then was named a Senior CLASS Award candidate a year later. Matula's classmate Leah Turner, an outside hitter, was a first team All-League member as a senior and cracked the Academic All-Patriot League Team. Right side Stephanie Slater '16 also earned All-Patriot League honors her final two seasons, including first-team recognition as a junior.

Watt came to Lehigh from Cannes, France and brought with him extensive playing and coaching experience. A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, he was the number one setter for the Scottish National Team since 2011. While with the Scottish National Team, Watt won the Player of the Year award. While in France, Watt had a two-year stint playing for the AS Cannes Volleyball Club, a professional team in France, in which he captained the team for a season. He also had a one-year stint playing for Amiens Metropole Volleyball Club. In addition, Watt was selected in the final 24 player roster for the Great Britain Olympic Team for the 2012 London Olympics.

Watt brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Mountain Hawks as well. He has been a Junior National and National League coach for the City of Edinburgh Volleyball Club and has also coached as part of the AS Cannes Volleyball Academy. Watt is fluent in French, and has his Bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise science.
