Why Lehigh? “I chose Lehigh because of the great education. The people here are helpful and want you to succeed. There are also a lot of programs you can get involved with. My teammates are what really drove my decision to Lehigh, along with the softball program. Also the campus is beautiful.”
On Coach Troyan: “He is a very informative person and knows a lot about the game. Also that he wants to see you succeed not only on the field but academically and socially as well.”
On the Lehigh softball experience: “It is an accomplishment for me to be on such a great team who
wants to win and also remembers how much we love the game. I love the competitiveness within Lehigh softball and how everyone pushes you to do your best and also become better.”
As a junior… Started 41 games at second base... singled against Baylor’s Whitney Canion for one of Lehigh’s four hits in NCAa tournament… had three hits at Penn (3/25) and four two-RBI games... snapped 0-for-27 skid with two hits, including RBI single in win over Holy Cross in Patriot League Tournament opener (5/12)... led team with seven sacrifice bunts.
As a sophomore… made 41 starts at second base… homered twice in win over Army (4/10)…homered and drove in five runs in win over Lafayette (4/18)… as a freshman… started total of 11 games at second base, third base and shortstop… also saw action in left field… three of six hits came in win over Monmouth (4/23).
In high school… two-time All-State shortstop… three-time All-Conference selection… also earned All-State and All-Conference accolades in volleyball as an outside/middle hitter… recipient of Martha Madison Award, highest honor for a female athlete at Windsor Central… member of National Honor Society and high honor roll… academic athlete all-star.
Personal: Daughter of Mike and Karen Halaquist… sister Dana… enjoys skiing, snowboarding, swimming and volleyball… member of Dental Society, C.O.A.C.H. program and emerging leaders program.
