BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior Connor Poole has been named Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. Poole enjoyed a strong day both kicking and punting in Lehigh's 24-20 victory over Dartmouth Saturday, which moved the Mountain Hawks to 4-0 on the season.
Â
Poole converted all four of his kicks Saturday, going 3-for-3 on extra points and adding a 27-yard field goal on Lehigh's opening drive of the third quarter. He was only called upon to punt twice, but made his impact felt, with punts of 42 and then 56 yards. The 56-yard effort was a season-long and matched the second-longest of his career, and pinned Dartmouth at its 20, forcing the Big Green to march 80 yards to try and win the game.
Â
Dartmouth's drive ended on DJ Brown's one-handed interception on the Lehigh five-yard line with 13 seconds remaining.
Â
For the season, Poole is now 20-for-20 on extra point attempts and is averaging 46.3 yards on nine punts. Lehigh ranks second in the FCS in net punting.
Â
Brown and senior running back Luke Yoder picked up honorable mention recognition from the league Monday. The game-clinching interception was the second of his career and added to his three tackles and a pass breakup. Yoder had his fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing game to open the season, with 150 yards and added two more touchdowns, bringing his FCS-leading total to 11 rushing touchdowns.
Â
Lehigh moved up one spot to No. 6 on the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, while the Mountain Hawks held steady at No. 7 in the FCS Coaches Poll.
Â
The Mountain Hawks travel to Penn Saturday to face the Quakers at 1 p.m.
