BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball welcomes the Bucknell Bison to Stabler Arena on Saturday for Senior Day, presented by Rich Mar Florist. Seniors Brendan Reed, Bube Momah, Henri Adiassa, and Tommy Conniff will be honored pregame.
The series between Lehigh (14-16, 10-7 PL) and Bucknell (9-21, 6-11 PL) dates all the way back to 1902, with the Bison holding a 113-75-1 advantage. The Bison defeated the Mountain Hawks 72-65 in Lewisburg on January 3, but Lehigh has won six of the past ten meetings between the two schools.
If Lehigh wins and Colgate loses to Navy on Saturday, the Mountain Hawks will clinch the number two seed in the Patriot League standings. In addition, Murray H. Goodman '48 head coach Brett Reed's record against Bucknell would move to 22-23.
Lehigh faced off against the American University Eagles at Bender Arena in a pivotal Patriot League contest on Wednesday evening. Hank Alvey led the way with 24 points in a 78-73 Lehigh victory, securing a home quarterfinal game next week at Stabler Arena in the process. Alvey added eight rebounds, three assists, and three blocks while shooting 10-14 from the field. Nasir Whitlock posted 16 points with four assists and three rebounds. Jalen Vazquez delivered a career-high 15 points with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Peter Kramer finished with 11 points in 31 minutes off the bench.
Bucknell enters Saturday's contest in eighth place in the Patriot League standings with a record of 6-11. The Bison are locked into playing a first-round playoff game next Tuesday and need to win to secure playing that game at home. Freshman Amon Dörries leads the Bison in scoring at 15.7 points per game. Three other Bison average double-figures (Pat Curtin 12.0 ppg, Achile Spadone 11.9 ppg, Ruot Bijiek 11.8 ppg), but Bijiek hasn't appeared in a game since January 10.
