BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Having won five of their last six games, Lehigh men's basketball hits the road on Wednesday after a three-game homestand to face Army West Point at Christl Arena at 6 p.m.
Lehigh (9-12, 5-3 PL) trails Army (8-13, 2-6 PL) 72-50 in the all-time series and the Black Knights have won six of the last ten meetings. The Mountain Hawks have won their last two games at Christl Arena by a combined score of 174-121. Army defeated Lehigh 85-78 in overtime earlier this season on December 31.
If Lehigh wins, head coach Brett Reed would win his 297th game, putting him only three away from becoming the second coach in Patriot League history to reach 300 wins. In addition, Reed's record vs. Army would improve to 25-16.
Lehigh welcomed rival Lafayette to Stabler Arena on Saturday evening, deterring a late comeback attempt from the Leopards to earn a 64-59 victory. Nasir Whitlock once again led the way for the Mountain Hawks, scoring a game-high 20 points on 6-12 shooting with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Hank Alvey put up 12 points with seven rebounds and two steals, marking his 13th double-digit scoring game of the season. Joshua Ingram stuffed the stat sheet with ten points, nine rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block. Andrew Urosevic chipped in seven points off the bench.
After defeating Lehigh in the Patriot League opener, the Black Knights dropped each of their next five games to fall to 1-5 in league play. Army currently sits at 2-6 in the Patriot League after beating Bucknell in overtime on January 21 and falling to Navy on Saturday. Ryan Curry leads the Black Knights in scoring at 14.9 points per game while Jaxson Bell (11.4 ppg), Jackson Furman (10.8 ppg), and Jacen Holloway (10.7 ppg) also average double-digit points.
