Lehigh Heads West To Face Bucknell On Saturday Evening

1/2/2026 2:41:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball will play its first road Patriot League game on Saturday evening at Sojka Pavilion against Bucknell University at 5 p.m.

Lehigh (4-10, 0-1 PL) and Bucknell (3-11, 0-1 PL) have a storied history, first facing off against one another in 1902. The Bison lead the all-time series 112-75-1, but the Mountain Hawks have won six of the last ten meetings. Lehigh and Bucknell split the season series a year ago, with both teams winning on their respective home courts.

If Lehigh wins, Reed would win his 292nd game, putting him only eight away from becoming the second coach in Patriot League history to reach 300 wins.

Lehigh dropped its Patriot League opener against Army West Point by a score of 85-78 in overtime. Jalen Vazquez made his first career start and Edouard Benoit played in his first game since November 9. Lehigh posted shooting splits of 46.8% (29-62) from the field, 27.3% (6-22) from three, and 60.9% (14-23) from the free throw line. Army shot 45.6% (26-57) from the floor, 31.8% (7-22) from distance, and 70.3% (26-37) from the charity stripe. Army benefitted from a 46-26 advantage on the glass, including 14 offensive rebounds that turned into 17 second-chance points. Hank Alvey led the way for Lehigh with 21 points while Nasir Whitlock posted 18 points and eight assists.

Bucknell enters Saturday's contest with a 3-11 record off the heels of a loss in their league opener against Holy Cross. The Bison finished first in the Patriot League last season behind Player of the Year Noah Williamson but fell in the semifinal round against Navy. Bucknell lost their top two scorers from a season ago in Williamson and first team All-Patriot League selection Josh Bascoe. Freshman Amon Dörries leads the Bison in scoring at 11.9 points per contest.

Following Saturday's game, Lehigh welcomes Holy Cross to Stabler Arena on Wednesday, January 7 at 6 p.m.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and is available on Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
