Levy Nets First Career Goal In 1-0 Win Over Navy

9/27/2025 1:57:00 PM | Men's Soccer

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lehigh men's soccer continued Patriot League play with a Saturday morning tilt against the Navy Midshipmen at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Midshipmen in a 1-0 victory for the team's first clean sheet of the year.

"It's always hard to play on the road with any Patriot League school, and Navy is no exception," said Ingrassia Family men's head soccer coach Dean Koski. "To come down here and play an 11 a.m. kickoff, which we're not used to, and get three points and a clean sheet was important for the team."

Lehigh (4-2-3, 2-0-1 PL) was the more aggressive team in the first half, out-shooting Navy (3-3-5, 0-1-2 PL) 8-3, including a 5-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Mountain Hawks also generated four corner opportunities in the first 45 minutes. Senior Noah Levy provided the lone goal of the first half, scoring the first goal of his career on an assist from sophomore Giacomo Zizza in the 24th minute.

"[Levy's first career goal] came at a really good time," said Koski. "We don't put [Noah] out there to score goals, but he was very thoughtful in the run he made. The guys were very happy for Noah, it's an important game-winner and important first goal for his career."

The Mountain Hawk defense continued to impress throughout the second half, holding the Midshipmen to four total shots in the frame. Navy's first and only shot on goal of the match came in the 71st minute from Andrew Schug, but goalkeeper Anton Kinnunen made the save. Excellent play from Lehigh's defenders and goalkeeping allowed them to remain unbeaten through three matches against Patriot League competition.

"I thought we did a really good job in the first half," said Koski. "In the second half they threw more numbers forward and made it a little more challenging, but I thought our defense did a really good job of bending and not breaking. It's our first clean sheet of the season, and that was one of our goals."

Lehigh recorded 14 total shots and eight shots on goal in the match. Junior Thomas Robertson led the group with four shots while senior Yusef Gueye and Zizza had two each. Levy, Trey Sheeler, Paul Smajlaj, Landon Bealer and Luciano Larrea also took shots for the Mountain Hawks.

Kinnunen registered the first clean sheet of his career, making one save while facing seven total shots and one on goal. Navy's goalkeeper Robert Eaton made six saves in the match.

"Anton has been working hard since the beginning of the season," said Koski. "He's growing into the game and growing into Division-I soccer. He's improving every day and is committed to getting better every day, and that's all we can ask of him."

The Mountain Hawks return to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Tuesday, September 30 at 6 p.m. for a non-league tilt against Delaware.
