Roth, Mountain Hawks Finish Second at Temple Invitational

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Senior Jake Roth finished in second place and was one of just two players in the field to finish under par as the Lehigh men's golf team tied for second place out of 13 teams at the Temple Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at the 1912 Club.

Roth held the individual lead after Monday's first 36 holes, but shot 76 Tuesday to finish at one under par 209. He carded four more birdies Tuesday and finished five strokes behind medalist Philip Bondestad of East Carolina.

As a team, Lehigh shot 291 Tuesday and finished at 857 (283-283-291). The Mountain Hawks tied with La Salle for second place, one place behind the team champions, Drexel.

Leading the way for Lehigh on Tuesday was junior Matthew Quinn, who carded his second straight round of even par 70 to finish tied for eighth place at 214 (74-70-70). Quinn made four birdies and eagled the par 5 sixth hole in Tuesday's final round.

Sophomore Noah Zyung carded his third consecutive round of two over par 72 to tie for 12th place at 216. Zyung made one birdie Tuesday and was one under par through 13 holes.

Junior Charles Schrohe and first-year Ryan Cronin were both part of a tie for 37th place at 223. Schrohe went 73-75-75 with 13 pars Tuesday's final round, while Cronin shot 71-78-74 and carded two birdies Tuesday.

Competing as an individual, first-year Drew Golden tied for 59th place at 228 (74-77-77). Golden made two birdies in his final round.

The Mountain Hawks will next play in Binghamton's Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, Oct. 5-6 in Apalachin, N.Y.
