
Roth Leads Temple Invitational After Day One, Mountain Hawks Sit In Second

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Senior Jake Roth opened his season with two rounds in the 60s Monday as the Mountain Hawks completed the first 36 holes at the Temple Invitational at the 1912 Club. Roth shot rounds of 67 and 66 on the par 70 course and leads a 72-player field at seven under par 133 heading into Tuesday's final round.

As a team, Lehigh carded back-to-back rounds of three over par 283 and sits in second place in a 13-team field at 566. The Mountain Hawks are one stroke behind front-running Drexel.

Roth carded 12 birdies over 36 holes Monday plus three bogeys and one double bogey. He leads Philip Bondestad of East Carolina by two strokes.

Sophomore Noah Zyung carded consecutive rounds of two over par 72 and sits in a tie for 16th place at 144. Zyung carded eight birdies Monday including five in the opening round. Junior Matthew Quinn is also part of the tie for 16th place after rounds of 74 and 70. Quinn made five birdies including three in round two.

Junior Charles Schrohe is tied for 38th place at 148 (73-75). Schrohe made three birdies, all of which came in the opening round.

First-year Ryan Cronin sits at nine over par 149 and is tied for 44th place with rounds of 71 and 78. Cronin totaled three birdies on the day and made an eagle on the par 5 third hole in round one.

Lehigh's individual, first-year Drew Golden, is tied for 53rd place at 181 (74-77). Golden totaled four birdies, including three in the first round.

The final round of the Temple Invitational begins at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Lehigh will play alongside Drexel and third-place Appalachian State with tee times beginning at 10:40 a.m.
