Mrochko, Sward Represent Mountain Hawks on Academic All-League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Julia Mrochko and sophomore Peyton Sward represent the Lehigh softball team on the Academic All-Patriot League team, announced Wednesday. In addition to being an All-Patriot League double play combo for the Mountain Hawks, Mrochko and Sward are two of Lehigh's top performers in the classroom.
 
Mrochko is a finance major with a 3.65 cumulative GPA, while Sward has a 3.77 in accounting.
 
Both student-athletes were members of the Spring 2024 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and both Mrochko and Sward earned Dean's List distinction at Lehigh with GPAs above 3.6 in the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters.
 
On the diamond, Sward is a first team All-Patriot League infielder in 2025. She started all 50 games at shortstop, batting .324 with 40 hits, 31 runs scored and 12 stolen bases, which ties for the team lead.
 
A second team All-Patriot League selection, Mrochko started 49 games at second base, batting .333 with a Patriot League-leading 17 doubles, while adding three home runs, 31 RBIs and six sacrifice flies.
 
The Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League teams are voted on by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
 
Boston University pitcher Kasey Ricard was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball.
 
Lehigh (28-22) is the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will open tournament play against No. 2 Boston University Thursday at the Army Softball Complex at West Point, N.Y. Game time has been moved up to 1:30 p.m.
