Mountain Hawks Complete Spring-Opening UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Lehigh men's golf team carded a final round 304 Tuesday at the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. The Mountain Hawks shot their lowest 18-hole total of the three-day, 54-hole event and finished 14th out of 20 teams at 920 (311-305-304).

Junior Aiden LeBlanc was the low Mountain Hawk for the tournament, tying for 18th place at 221 (80-71-74). The second-round 71 matched classmate Jake Roth's opening round for the lowest Lehigh round of the tournament. In Tuesday's final round, LeBlanc carded three birdies.

Roth tied for 45th place at 229 (71-79-79) as Lehigh's No. 2 finisher.

Finishing third among Lehigh players was senior Jahan Bains, who tied for 73rd place at 234 (80-76-78). Bains made one birdie in his final round.

Lehigh's low player Tuesday was junior Paulius Malcius, who shot one over par 73 to move into a tie for 89th place at 238 (82-83-73). Malcius matched LeBlanc with three birdies in his final round.

Sophomore Charles Schrohe shot 82 Tuesday and tied for 102nd place at 241 (80-79-82).

New Mexico State used a final round 283 to claim the team title at 885 (301-301-283). The Aggies edged Arkansas State by two strokes, while UC Irvine ended up in third place.

Thomas Schmidt of Arkansas State was the individual medalist at five under par 211 (71-68-72). He posted a six-stroke victory over Seattle University's Kevin Li.

Lehigh will be back on the course at Appalachian State's Irish Creek Collegiate, Apr. 7-8 in Kannapolis, N.C.
