
Scoring Effort Lifts Lehigh Over Merrimack 6-1

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Six different goal-scorers led Lehigh (5-4) to a 6-1 win over Merrimack on Sunday afternoon.

Lehigh scored two goals in the first four minutes of the games, the first one from junior Maddie Noh and the second one from first-year Riley Thurston to put the Mountain Hawks up 2-0.

With 6:32 left in the first quarter, sophomore Ella Stephenson joined the scoring, putting Lehigh up 3-0.
Merrimack got on the board with 0:18 left in the opening quarter, as Julie Wester decreased Lehigh's lead to 3-1.

Senior Eleni Kountroubis put one more goal in for Lehigh in the first half, sending Lehigh into halftime leading 4-1.

Early in the third quarter at 13:35, fifth-year Julia Gatelein scored her sixth goal of the season as Lehigh had a 5-1 advantage. Junior Maddie Kandra extended Lehigh's lead to 6-1 with 6:45 remaining in the third quarter.

Senior goalkeeper Jenny Canoni played the first half while sophomore Kate Burgess came in for the second half, recording one save. Merrimack's Isabelle Gardiner made five saves.
