Mountain Hawks Win Rematch With Bucknell To Move Into Championship Round Of PLT
5/10/2024 5:35:00 PM | Softball
Graduate student Emily Cimino reached base three times and was one of three Mountain Hawks to record two hits on the day. Senior Amanda Greaney crushed a two-run home run to spark a four-run fourth inning as the Mountain Hawks pulled away with 10 runs over their final three turns at bat.
Lehigh improves to 32-19 overall and will face Boston University in Saturday's championship round. The Mountain Hawks need to beat the Terriers twice to capture their 16th Patriot League Tournament crown, while BU needs just one win Saturday to take the title.
For the second straight game, Lehigh plated a run in the top of the first as the designated visiting team to take an early lead. Consecutive doubles from Cimino and senior Brooke Cannon staked Lehigh to a 1-0 lead.

Bucknell (19-27) tied the game in the bottom of the first on Savannah Jones' RBI single. Lehigh got out of the inning without any further damage when Zoie Smith was ruled to have left third base early after scoring on Brooke Popella's fly ball to right.
The Mountain Hawks took the lead for good in the third when Cimino played classmate Josie Charles with a sacrifice fly to right. The RBI was the 165th of Cimino's career, tying her with Liz Lucas '13 and Kim Miller '96 for the Lehigh and Patriot League career record.
Greaney opened the doors for a four-run fourth with a long two-run home run to center, her first of the season. Charles delivered an RBI triple and then scored on a single by first-year Gracie Smith to give Lehigh a 6-1 lead after three and a half innings.
