
Nine Stroke Improvement For Mountain Hawks On Day Two Of UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Under much more favorable weather conditions, the Lehigh men's golf team turned in a sub-300 second round Monday at the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines. The Mountain Hawks shot 296, nine strokes lower than Sunday's opening round 305, and are part of a three-way tie for 10th place in a 17-team field at 601.
Sophomore Aiden LeBlanc enjoyed another strong day, shooting one over par 73, a mark that was matched by graduate student David Hurly. LeBlanc carded three birdies Monday while Hurly made two birdies and two Eagles in his 73. LeBlanc is tied for 27th place at 148 (75-73), while Hurly is a stroke behind at 149 (76-73) to tie for 33rd.
Senior Edmund Broderick and junior Jahan Bains are both tied for 58th place at 152. Both players made three birdies on Monday with Broderick shooting 74 and Bains carding a 76.
Sophomore Will Caronchi made two birdies in his second straight round of 80 and is tied for 96th place.
Competing as an individual, first-year Matthew Quinn shot a second consecutive 81 and is tied for 100th place at 162.
North Dakota State has taken the team lead at one over par 577 (293-284). The Bison lead Idaho by five strokes and third place Yale by six.
Jack Johnson of NDSU and Johannes Hounsgaard of Idaho are tied for the individual lead at three under par 141.
The UC San Diego Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes, beginning at 7 a.m. PT from Torrey Pines.
