Three Mountain Hawks Elected To Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Christina Yakaboski, junior Patrez Thomas and sophomore Laura Reigle were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team for indoor track and field, the league office announced Friday morning.

In last weekend's Patriot League Championships, Reigle earned third place and the bronze medal with a 3.90m pole vault. A Design major, Reigle landed on the Patriot League Honor Roll at the conclusion of her rookie season last year. The sophomore currently holds the school record in both the indoor (4.10m) and outdoor (4.04m) pole vault.

A familiar face in academic honors, Yakaboski garnered her fifth career Academic All-Patriot League honor spanning across cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field. The Calverton, N.Y. native is a dual major in economics and design. In the Patriot League Championships, she earned sixth in the mile with a PR and second all-time mark of 4:41.68. In the 3000m, Yakaboski went on to secure another PR, crossing the finish line in 9:49.26.

Junior Patrez Thomas was the lone male honoree, earning CSC Academic All-District nods following the 2023 outdoor season. At Patriot League Championships, the Finance and Accounting major earned a PR in the 200m with a tenth all-time mark of 22.33.Â

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. Boston University earned both male and female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Vera Sjöberg and Freddy Collins.

The track and field teams open the outdoor season on March 15-16 at the Army Open in West Point, N.Y.
