BETHLEHEM, Pa. – One day after claiming its 13th Patriot League football championship with a 38-14 win over Lafayette in the 160th meeting of college football's most-played rivalry, Lehigh learned its postseason destination Sunday. The Mountain Hawks will open the FCS playoffs at No. 9 seed Richmond, Saturday, Nov. 30 at Robins Stadium, with game time set for 2 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public through Richmond, Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with audio coverage on FOX Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM and LVFOXSports.com.
Lehigh enters the postseason at 8-3 overall with the Mountain Hawks having won five consecutive games to claim the league title and make their first postseason appearance since 2017.
Richmond, the automatic qualifier out of the Coastal Athletic Association, has reeled off 10 consecutive wins after an 0-2 start, with the Spiders clinching a perfect 8-0 CAA mark after a 27-0 win in their rivalry game over William & Mary Saturday.
The game is also noteworthy as Richmond will be leaving the CAA and joining the Patriot League as an associate member in football for the 2025 season. Lehigh and Richmond are scheduled to meet in the 2025 season opener, Aug. 30 at Goodman Stadium.
Richmond holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series, with Lehigh claiming a 24-23 victory in the first round of the 1998 playoffs. The Spiders claimed a 31-3 win in Richmond in 2021 and a 30-6 victory at Goodman Stadium in 2022.
The winner of the Lehigh-Richmond game will face No. 8 seed Idaho on Saturday, Dec. 7.
