
McCartney And Stewart Selected To Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two Mountain Hawks have been named to the 2024 Volleyball Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced by the league on Wednesday morning. Junior Madison McCartney makes her second-straight appearance on the team while senior Emily Stewart earns the distinction after receiving first team honors on Monday.
McCartney, the middle blocker from Arlington, Virginia, is making her second career appearance on the Academic All-Patriot League team. The behavioral neuroscience major has posted a 3.92 cumulative GPA during her time in Bethlehem and has earned a plethora of academic achievements. In addition to being a 2023 Academic All-Patriot League team member, McCartney is a two-time Patriot League Honor Roll recipient, four-time Faculty Athletics Council Award winner and a four-time Dean's List selection.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, McCartney has been one of the top defenders and servers in the Patriot League. She ranks fifth in the league in total blocks with 104, fifth in the league in solo blocks with 19, sixth in the league in block assists with 85 and first in the league at 1.28 blocks per set. She also ranks fourth in the league in service aces with 33 and first in the league with 0.41 aces per set.
Stewart makes her first appearance on the Academic All-Patriot League team after being named to the first team All-Patriot League team on Monday. The industrial and systems engineering major from Fort Myers, Florida has recorded a 3.54 cumulative GPA throughout her academic career. Stewart's academic accomplishments include two selections to the Patriot League Honor Roll, five Faculty Athletics Council Awards and two selections to the Dean's List.
On the court, Stewart has been one of the best middle blockers in the Patriot League this season, leading the league in total blocks with 123. She also ranks second in the Patriot League with 24 solo blocks and first with 99 block assists. Stewart has also been a focal point offensively for the Mountain Hawks this season, tallying 205 kills on a .339 hitting percentage, which ranks as the second highest in the league.

No. 6 Lehigh earned their first postseason victory since 2014 on Tuesday night, defeating No. 3 American in five sets in the Patriot League quarterfinal. The Mountain Hawks will now travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on the No. 1 Colgate Raiders at 5:30 p.m. in the Patriot League semifinals on Friday, November 22.
