Mountain Hawks Continue Fall Play At The Doc Gimmler On Bethpage Red

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On the first of three consecutive tournament weekends to open the fall season, the Lehigh men's golf team is headed back on the road. The Mountain Hawks will play in The Doc Gimmler, hosted by St. John's at the Bethpage State Park Red Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.

The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes Saturday and 18 Sunday on the 7,092-yard, par 70 Red Course. Play will begin each day at 7:30 a.m.

Participating schools include Columbia, Fairfield, FDU, Georgetown, Harvard, Hofstra, Iona, Lafayette, Lehigh, LIU, Loyola Maryland, Niagara, Rider, St. John's and Towson.

Lehigh opened its fall with a fifth place finish out of 12 teams at Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y. Senior Edmund Broderick led the way, finishing in fourth place at four under par 212. Broderick was named Patriot League Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.

Junior Aidan Oehrle and sophomore Aiden LeBlanc were Lehigh's next two top finishers, while fifth-year Sam Barton, junior Jahn Bains and sophomore Jake Roth also competed for the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh finished fifth out of 15 teams at last year's Doc Gimmler with Oehrle shooting 64 in last year's final round and David Hurly leading the way with a top 10 finish.

On Saturday, Lehigh will play alongside LIU and Georgetown with players going off the first tee beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Following The Doc Gimmler, Lehigh will play in the Temple Invitational, Sept. 16-17 in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
