BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seven members of the Lehigh softball team were named to the All-Patriot League teams, announced Tuesday afternoon. Graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich and seniors Josie Charles and Emily Cimino were all named to the first team. Lehigh's four second team honorees are juniors Brooke Cannon and Katelyn Young and first-years Chloe Hess and Sydney Parlett.

The All-Patriot League teams and major awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Barjaktarovich leads the way for Lehigh with her third career honor as the shortstop was selected to the at-large position. She has now earned first team honors the last two years after earning second team accolades in 2021. Barjaktarovich is enjoying another outstanding season at the plate and in the field. She is batting .400 and leads Lehigh with 76 hits, 40 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. Barjaktarovich owns a school record 34-game hitting streak and enters the postseason needing just one hit to tie Lehigh's career record, held by Julie Fernandez '12 (263). The two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Barjaktarovich has made just two errors in 216 chances this season.

Cimino is an All-Patriot League performer for the second straight season and earns first team honors for the first time. Lehigh's No. 3 hitter and right fielder, Cimino has provided plenty of power for the Mountain Hawks in 2023, contributing a team-best 15 doubles, three triples and 44 RBIs. Her six home runs rank second on the team and her .331 batting average ranks third. Cimino started fast, earning Patriot League Player of the Week honors after an opening weekend where she drove in five runs in a win at No. 7 Alabama and then had a walk-off double against Georgia Southern the following day.

Charles earns a spot on the first team following a breakout senior campaign. After playing on the infield for most of last season, Charles shifted to left field in 2023. She has provided a spark in the Lehigh lineup hitting in the No. 2 spot between Barjaktarovich and Cimino in the second half of the season. Charles leads the Mountain Hawks with a .415 batting average and has contributed 68 hits, 34 runs, 15 doubles, three triples and 25 RBIs, while stealing 18 bases in 19 tries. She ranks second on the team in hits, doubles and stolen bases. Charles earned her first career Patriot League Player of the Week award after a strong second half of Lehigh's spring break trip to Florida.

Cannon earns her first All-League honoree as a second team outfielder. She batted .298 overall and ranked second on the team behind Barjaktarovich, batting .436 in 18 league games. Cannon was one of three Mountain Hawks to register 15 RBIs in league play and drove in 26 overall, while making a number of outstanding plays in center field.

Parlett was recognized on the second team after settling in a third base in the second half of the season. She batted .290 in 48 games with nine doubles and 17 RBIs. Nineteen of Parlett's 40 hits came during Patriot League play, where she batted .352.

Lehigh's top two pitchers in terms of innings pitched were both recognized. Young earns her first all-league honor after going 20-6 with a 2.52 ERA. A two-time Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, Young led Lehigh in wins, inning pitched (164.0) and shutouts (three). She also has 113 strikeouts. Young threw her first career no-hitter on March 22 as Lehigh shut out Monmouth 2-0. She went 9-1 in Patriot League play with 48 strikeouts.

Hess led the Mountain Hawks with a 2.20 ERA and 114 strikeouts to go along with a 14-5 record in 140 innings of work. She earned Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors after going 3-0 at Colgate and allowing just two runs over 17.1 innings of work. Hess threw 57.2 innings during the Patriot League regular season, striking out 44 and pitching to a 2.43 ERA, one hundredth of a point ahead of Young.

Regular season champion Boston University swept the five major awards, claiming Player (Kayla Roncin), Defensive Player (Caitlin Coker), Pitcher (Allison Boaz), Rookie (Kasey Ricard) and Coach (Ashley Waters) of the Year.

Lehigh (39-12, 16-2 PL) will be the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will open tournament play against No. 3 Army West Point, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at BU Softball Field in Boston. Top seed Boston University will host No. 4 Bucknell in the tournament's first game at noon. Friday's second day of tournament play will feature games at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., with the championship round set for Saturday at noon.
