BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Five members of the Lehigh softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team announced Tuesday. These five student-athletes, graduate student Carley Barjaktarovich, seniors Josie Charles and Emily Cimino, and juniors Brooke Cannon and Amanda Greaney, will now move to the ballot for CSC Academic All-America.

Barjaktarovich, Charles and Cimino were all named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team last week. Cimino was named Academic All-District for the second consecutive season, while Barjaktarovich was recognized for the third straight year.

New for the 2022-23 academic year, student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key contributor in their sport. First-year student-athletes are not eligible for Academic All-District or Academic All-America honors.

Barjaktarovich graduated last May with a 3.86 GPA as a double major in management and marketing. She is currently enrolled in Lehigh's cognitive science graduate certificate program as a track to a potential master's degree in exercise science. Barjaktarovich was a three-time All-Patriot League honoree as Lehigh's starting shortstop and leadoff hitter and closed out her career with 79 hits in 2023 and 265 for her career, setting school records in both categories.

Charles is an industrial and systems engineering major with a 3.84 GPA. She enjoyed a breakout season on and off the field. In addition to her academic recognition, Charles earned first team All-Patriot League honors as an outfielder, leading the Mountain Hawks with a .412 batting average and six triples. Three of those triples came in the Patriot League Tournament where Charles was named to the All-Tournament team.

Cimino carries a 3.71 GPA as a biology major. Lehigh's top run producer in 2023, Cimino led Lehigh with 17 doubles and 46 runs batted in. Her 17 doubles are tied for the third most in a season in school history. In addition, Cimino batted .330 and ranked second on the Mountain Hawks with six home runs while earning first team All-Patriot League honors.

Lehigh's starting centerfielder, Cannon joins her outfield mates Charles in Cimino in earning Academic All-District recognition. Cannon earned second team All-Patriot League honors, batting .292 with eight doubles and 26 RBI, while providing outstanding defense in center. She is also an industrial and systems engineering major, with a 3.82 GPA.

A mechanical engineering major with a 3.92 GPA, Greaney owns the top cumulative grade point average among undergraduates on the Lehigh softball team. A three-year starter behind the plate for the Mountain Hawks, Greaney hit .224 with five doubles, two home runs and 16 RBIs during the 2023 campaign. She hit her second home run of the season in Lehigh's Patriot League Tournament game against Boston University.

Lehigh finished the 2023 season with a 40-14 record, as the Mountain Hawks hit the 40-win mark for the sixth time in program history.
