
Mountain Hawks Ready For Las Vegas Regional Beginning Monday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League champion Lehigh men's golf team is set to make its second-ever NCAA Regional appearance as the Mountain Hawks head to Las Vegas for the three-day Las Vegas Regional, hosted by UNLV, May 15-17 at Bear's Best Las Vegas.

The Mountain Hawks are one of 14 teams and five individuals set to compete in the three-day, 54-hole event on the par 72, 7,217-yard course at Bear's Best, one of six regional sites. The five lowest scoring teams and the low individual not on one of those five teams will move on to the NCAA Championship May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Lehigh won its fourth Patriot League championship and first since 2013 when the Mountain Hawks posted a final score of 894 to defeat Colgate by six strokes, April 28-30 at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md.

In Lehigh's only other NCAA Regional appearance, the Mountain Hawks finished 14th in Tempe, Ariz., in 2013.

Senior Daniel Song won the Patriot League individual title, the first for a Lehigh player since Bowen Osborn in 2001. Song went on to add Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year to his resume. He will begin the tournament in the No. 1 position for Lehigh. First team All-Patriot League performer Aidan Oehrle will play No. 2. All six members of the team that won the Patriot League title will make the trip to Las Vegas, with seniors David Hurly and Sam Barton, junior Edmund Broderick and first-year Jake Roth joining Song and Oehrle.

Hurly leads the Mountain Hawks with a 72.19 scoring average over a team-leading 26 rounds. Oehrle and Song are tied for second, close behind at 72.45 over 22 and 20 rounds, respectively.

Individually, Song owns two titles plus a second place finish this season. He won the Lehigh Invitational in October. Roth won the Alabama A&M Golf Classic to close out the fall season, while Oehrle and Hurly both tallied second place finishes last month.

The win at the Patriot League Championship was Lehigh's fourth of the 2022-23 season. The Mountain Hawks also won Binghamton's Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, the Alabama A&M Golf Classic and Lafayette's ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational.

Lehigh is the No. 14 seed in the Las Vegas Regional and is one of six conference champions competing in this regional, along with No. 2 seed Stanford (Pac-12), No. 6 East Tennessee State (Southern), No. 10 Long Beach State (Big West), No. 12 Davidson (Atlantic 10) and No. 13 Kansas City (Summit League).

Arizona State, ranked fourth in the latest national poll, is the top seed in the Regional, with the field also including Virginia, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, Cincinnati, San Francisco, UNC Greensboro and Oregon State.

The five individuals in the regional are Caden Fioroni of host UNLV, Mac McClear of Iowa, Aidan Thomas and Garrison Smith of New Mexico State and Brady McKinlay of Utah Valley.

Lehigh will play with No. 13 Kansas City and the five individuals in Monday's opening round. Action for the day begins at 7:30 a.m. PT, while Lehigh's tee times begin at 9:20 a.m. PT off the first tee and run through 10:04 a.m. PT.
