Hurly's Top Five Finish Paces Lehigh at Columbia Spring Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – Senior David Hurly tied for fifth place to lead the Lehigh men's golf team to a fifth place finish at Monday's Columbia Spring Invitational at Rolling Green Golf Club. The one-day, 36-hole event featured a play-six, score-five format. The Mountain Hawks shot 27 over par 377 in the morning and eight over par 358 in the afternoon for a final total of 735.

Harvard cruised to the team title at six over par 706 (355-351). Host Columbia was second at 722 followed by Yale (730), Bryant (732) and then the Mountain Hawks, who finished three strokes ahead of rival Lafayette.

Hurly finished 36 holes at two over par 142 (73-69). He carded two birdies in his opening round 73 and made a birdie and an eagle in round two.

Sophomore Aidan Oehrle led Lehigh in Monday's morning round, shooting two over par 72. He added a 73 in the afternoon to tie for 16th place at 145. Oehrle totaled five birdies, including three in the afternoon.

Senior Sam Barton tied for 20th place at 146 (75-71). Barton enjoyed a relatively clean final round with 15 pars, one birdie and two bogeys.

First-year Will Caronchi battled back from an opening round 78 to shoot 72 in the afternoon and tie for 41st place at 150. Caronchi carded one birdie in each round.

Senior Daniel Song also enjoyed a six-stroke improvement from round one to round two. Song bounced back from a 79 to shoot 73 in round two and tied for 56th place at 152. Song's second round included two birdies and like Hurly, the senior made an eagle on the par 5, 17th hole.

First-year Jake Roth tied for 79th place at 157 (81-76). Roth made two birdies in each round and also enjoyed a five-stroke improvement in the afternoon.

Team champion Harvard had three of the top four individuals, including medalist Brian Ma, who shot six under par 134 (68-66) to post a four stroke win over Alvin Kwak of Columbia.

The Mountain Hawks will be back in action April 10-11 at Villanova's Wildcat Invitational in Glenside, Pa.
