Ayhan Breaks 800-meter School Record and Reigle Claims Silver at ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championship

BOSTON — The Lehigh track and field programs sent nine Mountain Hawks to compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championship meet hosted by Boston University this weekend.

The men's squad traveled seven student-athletes to compete in six events while the women's team has two student-athletes who are competing in one event each.

Seniors Kerem Ayhan and Jake Martinez ran in the 800-meter prelims and the Patriot League silver-medalist Ayhan broke the school record after running a time of 1:50.18 to qualify for the finals Sunday afternoon. Martinez completed the event in 1:52.38 for an 11th-place finish and sits fifth all-time in program history.
The Patriot League pole vault champion, first-year Laura Reigle, finished in a tie for second place by clearing a mark of 3.66 meters and earned seven points for Lehigh.Â
First-year Abigail Klebe ran in the 800-meter event, finished with a time of 2:12.89 for fourth in the prelims, and qualified to run in the finals on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Liam Lovering placed 11th in the weight throw with a mark of 16.27 meters while sophomore Aidan Lynch competed in the mile and finished the race in a time of 4:18.82 for 41st place.
On Sunday, Lovering and junior Alex Clevenger with start the morning off by competing in the shot put while first-years Carter Bartz and Conor Reilly are set to compete in the pole vault. Along with the finalists, the 3,000-meter race will see sophomore Kevin Harvey run for the Mountain Hawks.

The Mountain Hawks will prepare for the upcoming outdoor track and field season, with their first meet on Saturday, March 18 at the Penn Challenge.
