Mountain Hawks Head to Florida to Open Spring Season at Lady Bison Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team is getting out of the cold and heading to Florida to open its spring campaign. The Mountain Hawks are headed to Panama City Beach, Fla., to compete in the three-day Lady Bison Classic, hosted by Lipscomb, at Bay Point Golf Club. Action begins Sunday and continues through Tuesday with a shotgun start all three mornings set for 8 a.m.

Lehigh will be one of 15 teams competing at the Lady Bison classic, the first of the Mountain Hawks' four spring tournaments prior to the Patriot League Championship, April 21-23 in Midlothian, Va.

The Mountain Hawks played in four events this fall, highlighted by a third place finish at the Hornet Classic at the Creek in mid-September. Sophomore Madison Pineda led Lehigh in two of its fall events, while first-year Evelyn Wong led the Mountain Hawks in their fall opener. Lehigh capped its fall with an eighth place finish at the Lehigh Invitational in late October, with junior Meghna Grover leading the way.

Fifteen teams plus individuals from Chattanooga will compete at the Lady Bison Classic. The Mountain Hawks and host Lipscomb will be joined by Bethune-Cookman, Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Dayton, FGCU, Loyola Chicago, Morehead State, Murray State, North Alabama, South Dakota State, UAB, UNC Asheville and Valparaiso.

The course at Bay Point Golf Club plays at 5,971 yards to a par 72. Lehigh will play with Valparaiso and Bethune-Cookman on day one Sunday with a lineup featuring Pineda, Wong, first-year Yuki Zhu and seniors Iris Shin and Hannah Foster.

Following the Lady Bison Classic, Lehigh will play at the Southwest Minnesota State Spring Classic, March 13-14 in Arizona over spring break. The Mountain Hawks will also play in William & Mary's Kingsmill Intercollegiate March 27-28 and Howard's Bison Invitational April 10-11.
