Lehigh Travels to Easton to Renew The Rivalry with Lafayette

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Rivalry is renewed as the Lehigh men's basketball team makes the short trip to Easton, Pa. to take on Lafayette in the Kirby Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
Lehigh (13-9, 8-3 PL) is looking to rebound after a 71-69 loss to Army West Point inside Stabler Arena on Wednesday night, which ended an eight-game win streak. Four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures and combined for 50 of Lehigh's 69 points. Sophomore Keith Higgins Jr. led all scorers with 17 points and a team-high five steals. He also added a rebound and one assist. Junior Dominic Parolin contributed 12 points and six boards to go with two assists, a blocked shot and a steal. Parolin was a clean 6-for-6 at the charity stripe while sophomore Tyler Whitney-Sidney added 11 points, with five coming at the foul line, and tallied two steals, one rebound and an assist. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was sophomore Ben Knostman, who scored a career-high 10 points for the Brown and White. Knostman was 5-for-8 from the floor with five rebounds, one assist and a steal.
Higgins Jr., Taylor and Whitney-Sidney are averaging 13-plus points for the Mountain Hawks. Higgins Jr. averages 14.7 points per game and 1.8 assists per contest to go with a team-leading 48 three-pointers. Taylor recently reached 1,000 career points and is contributing 14.4 points with 6.4 rebounds per contest while Whitney-Sidney is scoring 13.2 points per outing, and a team-leading 33 steals and 2.0 assists per game, along with 4.6 rebounds.
Lafayette (7-17, 5-6 PL) enters Saturday's game on a two-game losing streak, falling to both Colgate (69-57) and Navy (53-34). After dropping their first three league games, the Leopards put together a four-game win streak before falling to Lehigh inside Stabler Arena on Jan. 21. Since the last meeting between the rivals, Lafayette has defeated Loyola (Md.) (62-46) but fell in its last two contests.
Two Leopards are averaging double-figures, led by Leo O'Boyle with 12 points per game and a team-high 51 made three-pointers. CJ Fulton is scoring 10.3 points per contest and leads Lafayette in assists (117) and steals (46) to go along with 5.1 rebounds per outing. Kyle Jenkins sits at 9.9 points per game, leads the squad with 5.8 boards per contest, and has added 17 blocked shots.
Lafayette is leading the all-time series 148-93, but the squads are tied at 5-5 in their last 10 games. Lehigh won the first game of the season series 61-49 on Jan. 19, and its first game against the Leopards at Stabler Arena since Jan. 2021. The Mountain Hawks look to make it three straight wins against the rival Leopards and earn back-to-back victories inside the Kirby Sports Center.
On Wednesday night, Feb. 8, the Mountain Hawks head to Hamilton, N.Y. to battle with the top team in the Patriot League, Colgate. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
