ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Lehigh men's track and field squad is in fifth place after day one of the 2023 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, highlighted by multiple finals qualifiers and the 4x800-meter relay team placing fourth.

The Navy men's team totaled 77 points through the first day of the championship, while Army West Point is second with 53.5 points. Bucknell (18), Boston University (14) and the Mountain Hawks round out the top five (12.5). Colgate (10), American (5), Holy Cross (3) and Lafayette (2) complete the men's standings.

The quartet of seniors Joseph Cranley, Brandtson Duffie and Connor Melko and sophomore Aidan Lynch finished the 4x800-meter relay in 7:36.69 to earn five points for the Mountain Hawks. That time is also good for the third-best time in program history.

Senior Ian Scott took home seventh in the long jump to garner two points for Lehigh with a mark of 6.90.

Qualifying for the 60-meter hurdles was junior Dan Stipanov, who grabbed the eighth and final spot for the finals with a time of 8.44 seconds.

Senior Amondo Lemmon finished just outside of qualifying times in both the 400-meter and 800-meter events but set PRs in both of them. Lemmon ran a 22:48 in the 400-meter and is now ranked 10th all-time in Lehigh program history in the 800-meter finishing in 49.96 seconds. Sophomore Kevin Harvey posted a PR in the 5,000-meter run with an IC4A qualifying time of 14:39.29.

In the heptathlon, sophomore Gideon Coprivnicar sits in seventh for the Mountain Hawks with a personal best mark in the high jump at 1.82 meters. He still has three events left to finish on the final day of the Patriot League Championships.

On Sunday, the women's shot put, men's high jump and the 60-meter hurdles for the heptathlon will kick things off at 11 a.m. with the men's mile being the first track event of the day at 12:10 p.m. The last event for the night will be the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay, followed by the awards ceremony set to begin at 4 p.m.
