Lehigh Hosts Cairn For Saturday Afternoon Hoops Prior To Finals Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball returns to Stabler Arena on Saturday one more time prior to the start of finals week. The Mountain Hawks will welcome Cairn University to Bethlehem before embarking on a 12-day hiatus for the team to prepare and take their exams.
Lehigh (1-7) and Cairn (6-2) have faced off against one another one time. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Highlanders by a score of 80-43 at Stabler Arena on November 12, 2019. Lehigh was led by Jakob Alamudun who posted a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
If the Mountain Hawks pull out a win on Saturady, they would win their second game of the season. Lehigh's all-time record against Cairn would move to 2-0, Lehigh's home record would move to 2-2 on the year, and the Mountain Hawks would snap a four-game losing streak.
Three Mountain Hawk players eclipsed their career-highs in an offensive showcase between Lehigh and UMBC last Saturday afternoon. Despite putting up their second-highest total of points as a team on the season, the Mountain Hawks were narrowly edged by the Retrievers 92-87 in Baltimore. Junior Tyler Whitney-Sidney led the way for the Mountain Hawks by scoring a career-high 24 points on 64.3% from the field. Sophomore Bube Momah also had an efficient night from the floor, scoring his career-high of 18 points on 8-11 shooting. Also posting a career-high was senior Burke Chebuhar, who tallied 11 points.
The Highlanders boast an impressive offense that averages 88.6 points per game and has posted 100 or more points three times this season. Cairn is led by their two leading scorers, Derian Bradford and Aytor Alberto, who are averaging 23.8 and 20.1 points per game respectively. The Highlanders, a Division-III program from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, squared off against another Division-I program in Maryland Eastern Shore earlier this season, resulting in an 83-65 loss for Cairn on November 11. In their most recent outing, Cairn fell to Bryn Athyn College by a score of 72-67 on Wednesday.
