BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With finals in the rearview mirror, Lehigh men's basketball returns to play on Thursday night to take on the Boston College Eagles. The game will mark the fourth against a power conference team for Lehigh, which is the most out of any Patriot League school this year.
Thursday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between the Mountain Hawks and the Eagles. The game will be the 13th for Lehigh against an ACC opponent under head coach Dr. Brett Reed.
If Lehigh defeats Boston College, it would mark the first road win for the Mountain Hawks on the season. In addition, a win would be the first for Lehigh against a power conference opponent since the Mountain Hawks defeated Mississippi State in 2016.
Lehigh last competed on December 9, hosting Divison-III side Cairn to Stabler Arena. The Mountain Hawks picked up an 88-33 victory over the Highlanders to claim their second win of the season. Five Mountain Hawk scored in double-figures and the team's 33 points allowed are the fewest during Reed's 17 seasons as head coach. Lehigh currently averages 75.6 points per game, which ranks first in the Patriot League. In addition, junior Keith Higgins Jr. is putting up 17.2 points per game himself, which also ranks first amongst all Patriot League players.
Boston College enters Thursday's matchup with a record of 8-3, including 0-1 in the ACC conference after opening league-play with a six-point loss to NC State. The Eagles hold Power 6 wins over Vanderbilt and St. John's and have also defeated Patriot League side Holy Cross earlier this month. The Eagles are led by graduate student Quinten Post, who is averaging 18.7 points per game on a 47.2% clip from three in his third year at BC since transferring from Mississippi State. Charleston Southern transfer Claudell Harris Jr. is putting up 13.2 points per game on the year while Jaeden Zackery sits third on the team at 13.0 points per game.
Thursday's game will be aired on ACC Network Extra.
