BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's cross country will be competing at the Patriot League Championships this Saturday. The races are being held at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., a course that the Mountain Hawks have run already this season.
In their last competition, the men ran at the IC4A Championships in New York City on October 13 where they placed 19th out of 34 competing teams. Lehigh's top finisher was first-year Thomas Smigo who finished the race in 24:52.5, placing him 47th out of 310 runners. Smigo was awarded the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his efforts as he was the top first-year Patriot League finisher and second-overall first-year finisher in the race.
The Mountain Hawks had two other runners finish within the top 100, those being Aidan Lynch (66th, 25:03.2) and Kevin Harvey (88th, 25:17.8).
Lehigh competed at Colgate's course on September 2 at the Harry Lang Invitational. The team ran at their own Lehigh Invitational the day before and elected to run as a pack at Colgate. The Mountain Hawks placed 9th at the event but were able to gain valuable insight in seeing the site of the league championships.
Following Saturday's races, the men will be in action again on November 10 for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Those that qualify will be racing against some of the region's best on Goodman Campus in Bethlehem.
