Three Mountain Hawks Finish Top 10 at SHU Spring Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Three Mountain Hawks finished in the top 10 individually as Lehigh finished third at the SHU Spring Invitational, which wrapped up Saturday at the LPGA International – Jones Course.
Lehigh shot 311 on Saturday to finish the two-day, 36-hole event at 621 (310-311). Sacred Heart won the team title at 600 (291-309), four strokes ahead of runner-up Seton Hall and 21 ahead of the Mountain Hawks.
Sophomore Meghna Grover was the runner-up. Competing as an individual, Grover shot 73, to finish at even par 144 (71-73), three strokes behind medalist Chantal El Chaib of Sacred Heart, who finished at three under par 141. Grover's final round included three bogeys on the front nine and two birdies on the back nine.
Among Lehigh's scoring five, first-year Madison Pineda and sophomore Sophie Holland both tied for 10th place at 153. Pineda shot 74-79 with one birdie on Saturday, while Holland went 78-75, with an eagle on the par 5 ninth hole and a birdie on 18.
Junior Hannah Foster tied for 22nd place at 158 (79-79) with one birdie in Saturday's final round.
First-year Mia Scarpati had the biggest day one to day two improvement, going from an 82 to a 78 to tie for 26th place at 160. Scarpati had one birdie and one eagle in her final round.
Lehigh's fifth scorer, sophomore Sophia Taverna, tied for 39th at 165 (79-86). Taverna made one birdie in her final round.
Grover was the top finisher among all individuals. Lehigh had three other players compete as individuals, with first-year Sophie Chang tying for 46th place at 167 (83-84), junior Marina Mendez tying for 67th at 178 (84-94) and junior Iris Shin tying for 81st at 184 (91-93).
Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, March 28-29 in Williamsburg, Va.
