Four Mountain Hawks Reach Double Figures in Win Over St. Elizabeth

The Mountain Hawks (5-5) even their record with the win and take the first-ever game between the two programs, while the Eagles (3-6) had a two-game win streak snapped.
Lehigh recorded the first two baskets before St. Elizabeth scored their first points of the evening to put the score at 5-3. From that point on, the Mountain Hawks scored the next 11 points to extend their advantage to 16-3 with 15:40 to play. The Brown and White pushed the lead to as many as 31 points, 48-17, with just over a minute remaining, and headed into the locker room with a 48-19 lead.

The second half was no different, as Lehigh continued to add to their advantage to as many as 59 points, 87-28, with under five minutes to play. The Mountain Hawks would cruise to a 94-36 victory and earn their second win over a Division III program this season.
Eleven Mountain Hawks recorded a basket with four finishing in double-figures, led by sophomore Tyler Whitney-Sidney, who scored 16 points. He went 6-for-8 from the field, 2-for-2 beyond the three-point line, and 2-for-2 at the foul line. Whitney-Sidney also led the team in assists with four, to go with four rebounds and a steal. Senior Reed Fenton scored a season-high 14 points in the victory, shooting 50 percent from the floor, and added four rebounds and team-high four steals.

Senior Evan Taylor and sophomore Keith Higgins Jr. both contributed 13 points in the game. Taylor drained three three-pointers for the Brown and White with five boards, three assists and two steals while Higgins Jr. contributed four rebounds and two assists.
Seven other student-athletes registered points in the contest, with first-year Bube Momah turning in a few career bests, including eight points, five rebounds, three of them being offensive boards, and two assists. Sophomore Ben Knostman also matched his career high of five points and brought down five rebounds and dished out two assists. Junior Dominic Parolin led the squad with seven boards and two blocked shots to go with his five points.

The Mountain Hawks' defense held St. Elizabeth to 16.7 percent on shooting from the floor and 20 percent beyond the three-point line while Lehigh shot at a clip of 50.7 percent (36-of-71) from the field and 43.8 percent (14-of-32) behind the arc. Lehigh out-rebounded the Eagles 55-36 and dominated the paint, scoring 44 points compared to St. Elizabeth's 14.
Lehigh will travel to Cornell on Saturday, Dec. 21 for their last non-league contest of 2022. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside Newman Arena at Bartels Hall and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
