LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lehigh men's cross country team returned to Bucknell on Saturday morning for the much anticipated Patriot League Championships, finishing sixth overall with 145 points. Navy won the Patriot League Championship, finishing with 32 points and four runners in the top ten.

"It is disappointing that we weren't able to step up as an entire team and race to the best of our ability," said head coach Todd Etters. "We all need to take a long look in the mirror and be truthful about the type of impact we want to have in our short time at Lehigh. Competing at the highest levels requires the right kind of attitude and we need to grow from our results."

Senior Tyler French made his final Patriot League Championship count, finishing first for Lehigh and 14th overall with a time of 25:11.2 to be named second team All-Patriot League. Following behind French was sophomore Kevin Harvey, who finished 20th overall. Harvey finished the 8k with a time of 25:22.7.

"Tyler French earned All-League recognition today because he was at his best when it counted the most," Etters said. "That doesn't happen because he wakes up on race day ready to go. It is a process that he has gone through for four years and he simply wasn't going to be denied. He came to Lehigh more accomplished as a prep soccer player than a runner, but from day one, he was willing to embrace the challenge that is required to be great.

"Kevin Harvey was a standout performer for us today," Etters continued. "He could have packed it in earlier in the season when he was battling through weeks of sickness. There was nothing logical about why he was able to run so well today and I think that can be a lesson for the rest of our team. Competing hard is about focus, confidence, composure, and above all toughness.  Kevin displayed all of those qualities today."

Connor Melko was the third Mountain Hawk to finish the championship race on Saturday morning. The senior finished 31st overall with a time of 25:42.3. Aidan Lynch continued to put up solid times during his sophomore season. Lynch finished 44th overall with a time of 26:04.7.

Alex Heidemann and Carter LoPresti made their Patriot League Championship debuts for Lehigh. The first-year duo finished in the top 60 with Heidemann (26:20.7) finishing 55th and LoPresti (26:28.5) finishing 59th.

"Our team is young and I think we have some firepower in our younger classes," Etters said. "We need to embrace where we are as a program right now and make a decision going forward that sixth place is not good enough. In fact, second place isn't even good enough. If we can all agree on that statement, we will have a bright future."

The Mountain Hawks will have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet. Lehigh will travel to University Park, Pa. for the second time this year on Friday, Nov. 11.
