BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball returns to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall on Tuesday night, taking on Penn at 7 p.m. for the final non-league match before the start of Patriot League competition this weekend.
Following three consecutive losses at the Tiger Invitational in Towson over the weekend, the Mountain Hawks (2-7) are looking to get back on track against a familiar mid-week opponent in the Quakers.
Fifth year senior Hannah Wright had a dominant weekend, especially after being named to the All-Tournament team. Accumulating 30 kills between three matches, Wright had 13 with four digs against Florida Atlantic in Saturday's opener, while getting 11 with two digs and a block against Temple in Saturday's nightcap.
Fellow fifth year Sabrina Lancaster also had a success-filled weekend with 11 kills against FAU including the 1,000th of her career, becoming just the 11th Mountain Hawk all-time to reach the milestone.
Freshman Megan Schulte continues to lead the team in kills during her rookie campaign, accumulating 12 with six digs and a block against FAU and eight kills with six digs against Temple. Her 101 kills through the first nine matches pace the team.
Penn is 3-3 to start the season following three straight losses at the DePaul Invitational, falling to Akron, Oakland and DePaul. The Quakers opened the season at home with three wins over Bucknell, Canisius and Coppin State.
Autumn Leak is the team leader in kills with 99 so far this season, averaging 4.71 per set. Margaret Planek has totaled 50 kills, adding 14 blocks. Caroline Douglas has the team-lead in digs with 91, while Sydney Ormiston leads the Quakers with 146 assists.
Tuesday night's match marks just the 11th all-time meeting between Lehigh and Penn, who face each other for the first time since 2019. The Mountain Hawks topped the Quakers, 3-1 back on Sept. 6, 2019 to open the Crosstown Invitational.
Lehigh's match against Penn will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 7 p.m.
