BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Fran Troyan has announced his coaching staff for the 2022 campaign. Troyan has brought in Pattie Ruth Taylor and Kyle Stinner as assistant coaches, while David Troyan '20 will serve as the Mountain Hawks' volunteer assistant.

Taylor will serve as the Mountain Hawks' pitching coach and will play a prominent role in student-athlete recruitment. She comes to Lehigh following two seasons as the volunteer assistant coach at UConn. Last season, Taylor coached Payton Kinney to three Big East weekly awards as well as a spot on the Big East All-Tournament Team. In her first season at UConn, Taylor worked with a staff that posted a 2.01 ERA and threw six shutouts, going 16-5 in the abbreviated 2020 campaign.

A native of Russellville, Tenn., Taylor pitched for Middle Tennessee State from 2015-2018. She was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete, two-time C-USA Honor Roll member, and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at MTSU.

"Pattie Ruth lived up to all of her recommendations on her interview, and I personally worked at a clinic with her before she was hired," Troyan said. "Pattie Ruth knows softball, knows pitching, and has an undeniable charisma."

Prior to her stint at UConn, Taylor served as a pitching instructor at SIX1FIVE where she provided private pitching instruction to girls in a wide age range.

Taylor earned her bachelor's degree in marketing from Middle Tennessee State and added a masters in leisure and sport management.

An Allentown native, Stinner has been active on the local softball scene for many years. Stinner spent six years as an assistant coach at Whitehall High School, five years as an assistant for the Lehigh Valley's Carpenter Cup team and has spent four years as a summer travel ball coach in the Lehigh Valley Area. He has regularly worked at Lehigh softball clinics with Troyan.

Stinner is a teacher at Parkland High School and an assistant coach for Parkland's football staff. He is a 2016 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and added a masters degree from Kutztown in 2018.

"Kyle is a teacher, but he is also a student of the game," Troyan said. "Kyle has worked clinics for me for years and understands and can teach all aspects of softball."

David Troyan has been around Lehigh Athletics his entire life. The son of two Lehigh head coaches, Troyan has served as a team manager for the Mountain Hawks softball program over the past three seasons.

"David brings energy, passion, and a competitive drive that he got from his mom (Lehigh women's basketball head coach Sue Troyan)," Troyan said. "He also has been in the Lehigh dugout, literally, since he was five. Growing up with two Division I coaches has its downfalls, but it has its upside as well."

Troyan earned his degree in sociology in 2020 and is finishing his masters in educational leadership at Lehigh. He also currently works as a Division I women's basketball referee.

"Our staff has remained substantially intact since 2003," Troyan noted. "I love our former staff, and always will.  But I have knocked it out of the park with our current staff!  We are fired up to roll up our sleeves and get to work!"
