
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving conclude first day with leads against Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first day of the Lehigh-Lafayette Patriot League Challenge meet on Saturday. After the first day, both the men's and women's teams are in the lead. The women's team holds a 111-35 lead, while the men's lead consists of 78.50-61.50.
The Lehigh women's team won all eight of the events that took place. Starting with the 1-meter dive, freshman Emma Camp took first with a score of 191.93. Senior leader Ann Foley took home two wins on the day in the 50 free (23.94) and the 200 free (1:50.21). Olivia Giampietro took third in the 50 free with a time of 24.46. Ashley Carper also finished third in the 200 free at 1:58.00.
Sophomore Sarah Hardy also compiled two wins on the day for the Brown and White. Hardy took first in the 200 fly (2:03.33) and the 1000 free (10:30.02). Malia Wolf (2:07.26) and Sarah Horne (2:08.89) took second and third in the 200 fly. Hannah Lord would then take second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:43.59.
In the 100 back, Lehigh took first, second and third. Anna Francisco brought home the win with a time of 56.68, while Hallie Wilson (57.95) and Sophia Poeta (58.41) took second and third. Lehigh also took home the top three spots in the 100 breast with Anna Thomas (1:06.53), the sophomore Lord (1:07.78) and Liz Olszewski (1:09.08). The 400 medley relay team of Francisco, Wolf, Thomas and Giampietro also took first with a time of 3:51.56.
On the men's side, Addison Cochran began things with a win for the Mountain Hawks in the 3-meter dive. Cochran's score of 218.70 was good enough for first. In the 1000 free, freshman Keagan Casey recorded a win with a time of 9:45.40, while Connor Drucis finished third at 9:56.65. Miles Cox registered another win for the Mountain Hawks with a time of 1:51.93 in the 200 fly. Senior Matt Feryo recorded the last win for the Brown and White in the 100 back with a time of 51.14. Senior Max Goldenberg finished close behind in third with a time of 51.67.
Glenn Lasco tallied two second-place finishes throughout the day for Lehigh. Lasco took second in the 50 free (21.43) and the 200 free (1:43.27). First-year swimmer Alex Patti took third in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.86. Freshman Dan Unhuryan and Aiden McCurley took second and third in the 100 breast for the Brown and White. Unhuryan's time was 58.00 and McCurley's time was 59.00.
Lehigh's 400 medley relay team of Connor Sept, Feryo, Goldenberg and Patti finished second on the day with a tie pf 3:25.03.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the water tomorrow for day two at 10:30 AM. The completion of the diving events will begin the day.
