BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A pair of Lehigh field hockey student-athletes received Patriot League weekly awards on Monday following Sunday's convincing 4-0 win over Bucknell. Senior Lenke Havas was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week while sophomore Maddie Kahn earned her second straight Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
Havas' Defensive Player of the Week award is the third of her career (also winning it twice as a junior in the fall of 2019). On Sunday, Havas was part of a defensive effort which shut-out Bucknell. The Mountain Hawks held the Bison to just one first-quarter shot. Havas also scored two of Lehigh's four goals in the 4-0 win, Lehigh's largest margin of victory vs. the Bison in program history. She scored the first goal at the 7:33 mark on a penalty stroke, later scoring the Mountain Hawks' third goal just over three minutes into the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Kahn finished with nine saves - none in the first quarter, three in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth. She had no better save than her final one in the fourth, which ended up making SportsCenter's top 10 plays. For the season, Kahn has stopped all 11 shots sent her way.
Sunday marked Lehigh's first win over Bucknell since 2011 (which was also a shutout). Lehigh now has wins over Lafayette and Bucknell in the same season for the first time since 2004 and is 2-0 in the Patriot League for the first time since 1996.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Sunday, Apr. 4, hosting Holy Cross at 11 a.m.
