Lehigh moves up to 11th place on second day of UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate

PALM CITY, Fla. – The Lehigh men's golf team posted another sub-300 round on day two of the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate Saturday on the Osprey Course at Martin Downs Golf Club. Senior Owen Quinn once again led the way for the Mountain Hawks, shooting one over par 73, as Lehigh finished the day with a 299. The Mountain Hawks moved up one spot to 11th place in the 14-team field at 596 (297-299).
 
Quinn's second round featured an eagle on the par 5 third hole and three birdies. He is tied for 33rd place at even par 144 (71-73) through 36 holes.
 
Senior Ryan Kelly and freshman David Hurly turned in rounds of 75 on Saturday. Kelly carded three birdies as he improved from an opening round 77 and sits in a tie for 67th place at 152. Hurly also made three birdies as he shaved one stroke off his Friday score. He is tied for 63rd place at 151 (76-75).
 
Freshman Sam Barton made an eagle and a birdie in a second round 76. He is tied for 57th place at 150 (74-76). Freshman Alex Aurora is tied for 74th place at 154 (76-78). Aurora also carded three birdies in his second round.
 
Among Lehigh's two freshmen competing as individuals, Daniel Song made three birdies on the back nine and finished with a 75. He is tied for 47th place at 147 (72-75). Joey Dotta shot 80 and is tied for 74th at 154 (74-80).
 
Host UNCG leads the team race at 541 (270-271), while James Madison is in second place, five strokes back, and Samford moved into third at 562.
 
The host Spartans also have the top three individuals. After a 62 on Friday Jonathan Brightwell shot 69 Saturday and leads the field at 13 under par 131. Teammate Zack Swanson shot 64 Saturday to move one shot behind.
 
The UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes of play.
