BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After attaining a 20-win season to open her Division I coaching career, head coach Alexa Keckler is ready for her second season with Lehigh as she announced the schedule for the upcoming 2019 campaign on Thursday. The schedule features a much tougher slate of opponents, including Power 5 programs from the Big Ten, Big 12 and ACC.
The Mountain Hawks will kick off the year with a road-trip to Columbus, Ohio for the Sports Imports Classic starting with matchups against host Ohio State and VCU on Aug. 30. Lehigh will close out the weekend with a matchup against Texas Tech on Aug. 31. This will be Lehigh's first trip to visit the Buckeyes since 2006.
Lehigh returns home for the first matches at Leeman-Turner Arena on the season as the Mountain Hawks, in conjunction with Lafayette, host the Crosstown Invitational with Lehigh taking on Penn and Maryland Eastern Shore on Sept. 6 and then Delaware State and Manhattan on Sept. 7. NJIT visits Grace Hall on Sept. 10 for Lehigh's final non-league home match of the year.
Lehigh heads to Philadelphia for the Cherry & White Challenge hosted by Temple, where the Mountain Hawks face Columbia on Sept. 13 and then Radford and the host Owls on Sept. 14.
The Mountain Hawks will head to Charlottesville, Va. for the Jefferson Cup, hosted by Virginia for the team's final non-league matchups of the regular season. Lehigh will see action against Elon and the host Cavaliers on Sept. 20 and then close out the weekend with a matchup against UNC Greensboro on Sept. 21.
Lafayette marks the beginning of Patriot League play for Lehigh, as the Mountain Hawks visit Easton on Sept. 27 followed by a matchup in Lewisburg vs. Bucknell on Sept. 28. Lehigh swept both teams a year ago.
During the Oct. 4-5 weekend, Lehigh travels first to American to take on the Eagles in a rematch from last season's three-set sweep in the Mountain Hawks' favor. Then on the following day, Lehigh takes on defending Patriot League champion Navy in Annapolis.
The Mountain Hawks' first home Patriot League matchup of the season is Colgate on Oct. 11, where Lehigh looks for revenge after dropping its final match of the 2018 season to the Raiders, ending its tournament hopes. Army West Point then visits Leeman-Turner Arena on Oct. 12.
Lehigh heads back on the road for a lone matchup against Loyola on Oct. 15, before taking a short break before a five-match home stand against Holy Cross on Oct. 20, then rematches against Lafayette and Bucknell on Oct. 26-27, followed by back to back contests on Nov. 1-2 against Navy and American.
Almost a week later, the Mountain Hawks will head back on the road on Nov. 8 and 9 to take on Army West Point and Colgate, respectively.
The penultimate match of the season takes place on Nov. 12 at home against Loyola, as Lehigh then will finish out the regular season slate at Holy Cross on Nov. 17 against the Crusaders.
The Patriot League tournament begins on Nov. 19, with a switch in the tournament format. A quarterfinal round will kick off the postseason with the Patriot League semifinals set for Nov. 23 and the Championship match on Nov. 24.
